Revela Design 2008

As relações entre Design e Indústria Cultural são o tema da terceira edição do REVELA. Esta temática marca a constante atividade do Centro de Design do Recife nos diálogos do Design no campo da cultura. Parte dessa abordagem, tanto técnica, quanto filosófica, para expor seus dilemas e contradições, mas também para apresentar convergências e novas possibilidades criativas.

Na contemporaneidade, a dinâmica criação / produção / divulgação / consumo se dá a partir do jogo, muitas vezes lúdico mesmo, entre tensões como invenção x padronização, despersonalização x originalidade, exclusividade x reprodução, unicidade x seriação, sem perder de vista a memória cultural e a sustentabilidade.

Para propiciar tão vasta gama de diálogos, foram convidados profissionais atuantes nacional e internacionalmente em diversas áreas do Design – branding, curadoria, design de produto sustentável, design de superfície e moda – para um ciclo de palestras e oficinas. O acesso a todas as atividades será gratuito e aberto a profissionais, estudantes e demais interessados, sejam de design ou de áreas relacionadas.

I know it's been a little while since I've posted, so I figured I'd start up again, sharing new pics that I got in the mail today from Gene Ho. Gene and his assistant were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were professional from start to finish. I was so excited to see the pictures because I knew he was able to capture so many of the important and personal moments of the day! All of the following pictures are thanks to Gene and the fantastic team he's put together.
The day started with the Marva and the bridesmaids getting ready at the Ritz Downtown. Their makeup was done by Deetvekio, one of my personal favorite to work with. He is able to keep you looking natural, while adding the perfect amount of color! After getting ready, they headed to Piedmont Park to take some great pictures, and to put the finishing touches on the bride.

She was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

The flowers were done by the AMAZING Carla Duncan with On Occasions of Atlanta. They were the freshest flowers I've seen! It's always a pleasure to work with her, and her creativity always impresses! Carla also pays so much attention to detail. Take the hand-wrapped bouquet above, flawless!The ceremony took place in the meadow just off the Piedmont Garden Tent. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her mother.

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and the sun peeked through the willows perfectly. They were surrounded by loving family and friends.

Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests moved into the garden tent for a stylish reception.
The food was also the talk of the night, and absolutely delicious!

All in all, I would say that it was a fabulous wedding!

Descobri o fotógrafo holandês Erwin Olaf na capa da Flavorpill London #261. Fiquei impressionado com a produção e o tratamento das suas fotos, mas principalmente com as cores. Todas as fotos parecem nos transportar pra um universo diferente, que não é nosso mas parece ter existido em algum lugar perdido no tempo. Trabalho de mestre.

Con Alevosía, Nocturnidad y MUY POCA VERGÜENZA

Hoy, 29 de Octubre de 2008, viendo las noticias a la hora de comer, han hecho mención a una reunión a la cual no se le ha dado casi importancia y que para los que no tienen una idea muy formada de lo que debería ser, más que el sindicalismo en general, un sindicato, supuestamente de clase, tampoco le habrán dado la importancia que para mí merecía esa noticia.
Esa ha sido la reunión SECRETA (o discreta como prefiere llamarla el representante de la patronal en dicha reunión, ZP) en la cual lo de menos, para mí, es lo que se haya hablado. Esa reunión tuvo lugar el Lunes pasado (Lunes 27) entre el “señor” Zapatero y los dirigentes de las empresas de servicios sindicales de CCOO y UGT los cuales acudían a la reunión en calidad de representantes de los agentes sociales. Esto de representantes de agentes sociales significa que nos representaban A TODOS LOS TRABAJADORES del estado español. Éstos acudían con alevosía y nocturnidad para debatir con Zapatero sobre unas medidas para paliar la destrucción de empleo.
Como he comentado antes, no voy a entrar a juzgar lo positivo o negativo de las propuestas de cejitas (que prácticamente se resumen en dar subvenciones a los empresarios), sino el concepto de sindicalismo de clase, de sindicalismo horizontal, pues harto estoy ya de escuchar a los COCOS y los UGTeros autoproclamarse sindicato de clase.
Por sindicalismo de clase entiendo yo una forma horizontal de actuar y tomar decisiones, es decir, todo lo decidido y por decidir está previamente aprobado (o rechazado) por las bases, por los integrantes de ese sindicato, y en función de si se van aprobando propuestas van ascendiendo hasta llegar a niveles locales, provinciales, estatales. No me refiero con esto que se eliminen a los representantes (que también se puede debatir largo y tendido), sino quitarle la autonomía, la capacidad de decidir pues su labor no es ni debatir ni proponer, solo representar y defender las cuestiones para las que han sido elegidos. Éste no es el único requisito para actuar como sindicato de clase, pero sí es el más básico, tan básico que si no se cumple se deja directamente de ser un sindicato de clase para ser verticalista como en tiempos de Franco.
Con esta breve explicación (que entiendo que no sea la ideal pues no se me da muy bien esto de explicar) me basta para rechazar cualquier tipo de actuación de las “grandes” centrales sindicales pues demostrado una vez más ha quedado que CCOO y UGT tienen de sindicato de clase lo que CGT de anarquistas, solo la lengua, y a veces ni eso. ¿A caso le van a pedir responsabilidades a Fidalgo y Cándido por no haber consultado tan importante reunión con sus afiliados a los cuales representan? Yo, aún sin ser COCO ni UGTero, sí les exijo responsabilidades pues los hijos de puta tienen la desfachatez no solo de hablar en nombre de sus afiliados, sino en nombre de todos los obreros sin que NINGUNO (pues ha sido secreta) de ellos le hayan dado permiso.
Es por eso que me reafirmo en que la noticia es más importante de lo que la han vendido y como he dicho, no por lo hablado, sino por el simple hecho de que unos dirigentes se crean con carta blanca para hacer lo que les salga del forro.
Alarmante me parece, y sin faltar a la verdad puedo afirmar que....

Bela Pinter est un auteur et metteur en scène hongrois qui conçoit la scène comme un lieu de métissage. Son Opéra paysan est une fatrasie musicale (de la musique tzigane à la musique baroque, en passant par la country music) à la fois enjouée et plâtreuse. Un bien étrange objet de théâtre, entre hyperréalisme suffocant et onirisme...

La satire des moeurs "plouques" est servie aux petits oignons, du plouc hongrois au plouc texan, tout est plouc dans ce spectacle. Rendus hilares par le pénis géant à paillettes du cowboy, on en oublierait presque qu'il est l'instrument d'un viol. On avance allègrement dans une histoire d'inceste digne de Atrides, cuisinée au beurre rance. La petite paysanne au ventre arrondie se fera larguée comme une putain lorsque son époux comprendra qu'il est son oncle, et qu'il préfèrera aller courir le guilledoux avec sa soeur adoptive.

Un petit monde joyeux et consanguin qui s'en donne à coeur joie sur quelques mètres carrés de paille, accompagné par un orchestre d'hommes déguisés en femmes. Une loufoquerie inquiétante et confinée.

Du 16 au 21 octobre à la Cité internationale.

It have been quite some clip since picture games made their entranceway into popular culture, but as soon as they did, it was clear that they were here to stay. Video games have got always offered a practical escape, the opportunity to seek any battalion of things. Players could undergo the action and escapade of a hoarded wealth hunt, the bang of a high-speed race, the manic pandemonium of war, all without leaving the creature comforts of the couch.

Therein was the greatest drawback of these systems as well: participants never left the couch.

True, picture games have got got always been heralded as refinement hand-eye coordination, but the wellness benefits pretty much have always stopped there.

Which is why docs and gamers alike are intrigued by the Nintendo Wii.

The Nintendo Wii is a different sort of gambling system. With motion-sensor accountants and a assortment of games designed around practical sports, the Wii may in fact offering an effectual combination of gambling and exercise.

The fast one is in the interactivity of the Wii controller. To play many Wii games, the participants must acquire in on the action, literally performing the moves they desire to finish in the game. I know i've been absent for awhile, but dang was I busy! Surgery was a taxing rotation, long hours and lots and lots of studying but all my hard work paid off! So here's a little peak at how it went. Hopefully on this next rotation (Pediatrics) I'll be able to keep you all updated a little more frequently. Enjoy this wonderful weekend....matthew and i are off to the big city...Washington, DC that is! I'm so excited I've never been there before so you'll definately be getting some pics soon :) ~e
