In present day Montreal, a famous Nicolo Bussotti violin, known as 'the red violin,' is being auctioned off. During the auction, we flash back to the creation of the violin in 17th century Italy, and follow the violin as it makes its way through an 18th century Austrian monastery, a violinist in 19th century Oxford, China during the Cultural Revolution, and back to Montreal, where a collector tries to establish the identity and the secrets of 'the red violin.'

The value of a violin. What is it? I was ready for an art film: Red Violin, The somewhat interesting, and left very satisfied. I loved the way the craftsmen of this Red Violin, The Romance remains binding together with ropes from the beginning of history. What is the value of a violin? The Red Violin, The Romance follows the manufacturer Busotti in 17th century Italy who finishes his greatest work. As it is, is their latest creation. In it, he and the people he loved most by a kind of immortality. What is the value of a violin? What is the value of humanity?

An incredibly well through the connection of history makes this Red Violin, The film a pleasure to watch. His script was one of the most unfortunate Oscar snubs this year. While not necessarily the best, deserve recognition for their creativity.

Girard and McKellar have produced a fascinating story, which is served with all the trimmings. As one who has a weakness for movies that the milk of all the beautiful surroundings of its value was often amazed by this. Moreover, Corigliano's score deserves top billing - as the voice of the violin is really the star of the film. Unfortunately, once the violin makes its way to Montreal, things slow down dramatically. In addition, Samuel L. Jackson is woefully miscast. One wonders if the producers thought of Mr. Jackson, "Pulp Fiction" cool factor to attract a younger audience (and therefore sell more tickets). However, I recommend "Red Violin," and recommend "Topsy Turvy" for another approach to the creative process of music.
