In the year 2054 A.D. crime is virtually eliminated from Washington D.C. thanks to an elite law enforcing squad 'Precrime'. They use three genetically altered humans (called 'Pre-Cogs') with special powers to see into the future and predict crimes beforehand. John Anderton (Tom Cruise) heads Precrime and believes the system's flawlessness steadfastly. However one day the Pre-Cogs predict that Anderton will commit a murder himself in the next 36 hours. Worse, Anderton doesn't even know the victim. He decides to get to the mystery's core by finding out the 'minority report' which means the prediction of the female Pre-Cog Agatha (Samantha Morton) that 'might' tell a different story and prove Anderton innocent.

Minority Report (3 + outta 5 stars) Interesting premise (based on a short story by Philip K Dick) about a future society where law enforcement is based on a trio of powerful psychic who can predict crimes before they occur so that the perpetrators can be arrested * * before the damage is done. Complications arise when one of the principal officers of the law (Tom Cruise) becomes involved in a murder. Goes on the lam, waiting for an opportunity to demonstrate that he does not intend to kill anyone and did not even know * that the man is supposed to kill. I like this DVD film Minority Report will probably double that if he had the last half hour chopped off. The real highlight of the DivX film Minority Report comes when Cruise finally faces the man who is supposed to kill. (A very powerful confrontation that has made me mourn the first time I saw.) After we have a final fully predictable, with good triumphing over bad (and very good side-stepping many of the issues of murky morality and justice raised in the first 4 / 5 of the film). Based on this and "AI" I'm beginning to think that ALL Spielberg movies should automatically only the last 30 minutes chopped off. However, this is a funny DVD movie Minority Report ... Spielberg probably the best action Minority Report film since the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark". There are some ridiculous scenes "comedy relief", which may be inspired by the films of Terry Gilliam ... but it really seems out of place here (an eyeball-chasing scene in particular).
