Hare Krsna everyone. Another year is going and 2009 is coming, time is passing, it's said that at the time of death no money can pay even for a second of life in this material world and the time we have here is so precious that we should take advantage of every minute we engage in Krsna consciousness. The chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord is our hope, the treasure we have in our hands to achieve pure love of God. If we could grade our chanting during this year, what grade should we give - 9? 8? 7? 10? - was our attention completely towards the Lord? Did we dedicate 100% of our senses to japa? In what situations do we remember trying to avoid the 10 offenses and see the names as Krsna Himself
These are topics we may think about so maybe as a resolution for 2009....we can avoid unfavourable things to our spiritual life and take advantage of the favourable ones.
I hope we all attain the stage which our body, senses and mind can be engaged in relishing the japa session so our path back home back to Godhead is guaranteed.

Sometimes my mind wanders all over the place, even when I am not chanting and I think of some situations that should be unfavourable to my spiritual life and meditate if they are really worth doing, I think that our time here is so little - we never know...why not dedicate it to spiritual life...so I quickly try to think of Krsna and how to improve my service...like listening to lectures, dedicating my time to reading and making plans on how I could serve Krsna more.
I heard today that we should always trust in the potency of the Holy Names and always be aware and avoid the inattentive chanting - if we want to avoid all the ten offenses we should avoid inattention and all the others will be easily overcome - but if we call out Krsna and Radha and ask for service....when they come to us we simply do something else - that's offensive, like a guest we invite to our home and when they arrive we do others things instead of treating them properly.

The stage which we try to avoid offenses is the one before attaining taste and love for Krsna, so its really important to give some of our time to chanting with attention in this stage in order to experience our eternal relationship with the Lord through service.
