La Planete sauvage AKA Fantastic Planet is a surrealist story based on the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia. Set in a far distant world human beings or 'Oms'have been domesticated by the gigantic Draags. Wild Oms however are a problem and are exterminated by the dozen. One domesticated om Terr is able to escape his masters with a headset that puts information directly into the brain. Armed now with the Draags technology he leads the Oms in an attempt to make life better for them...But will the deomizing destroy them?

This is an animated Fantastic Planet, The Animation made 45 years ago (1973) by the French, has the English title of "Fantastic Planet." At first, I was reminded of "Planet of the Apes" story in which "human" are the captives and the other person (the foreigners here, called "Draags') were the" masters ". Him, we are the "humanoids", visitors, so to speak in a foreign planet. In this story, foreigners are huge and seem not to be hostile. Humans are very small, people who fit in the palms of the hands Draags. Humanoids, however, are really the slaves of this fantastic world "until one learns the local language and joined his fellow captives. Since the brief, because I do not mean much to spoil the end, that's the best part of the film: Fantastic Planet, The .. A lot of people rave about the artwork but I do not think it was something that very well. It is very primitive, and perhaps that's part of the attraction. Again, that was 35 years ago, so it will not get the artistic slickness you see today. (However, "Yellow Submarine" was made before the film: Fantastic Planet, The was quite lively and exciting animation!) There is no doubt recall minimalist artists.

I first saw this Fantastic Planet, The film in the back 70 years after cracking ribs and my having to take an enforced break from work. One evening I wandered into a theater and sat down to one of the most absorbing, memorable events I've ever seen. At the dawn of the Internet, this was one of the first movies I watched to see if I could buy it. The philosophy can be superficial; oppressed to overcome their oppressors, but to achieve this is full of memorable things. I loved the care of innocent children, playing with the little Omm, I loved the company of people with higher focus on the intellectual quest, however, the vulnerability of the oppressed people just usually underestimated and ignored. That this was done as a cartoon aid does not. I have always remembered the people in blue, and the music is well marked. This DivX film Fantastic Planet, The is for adults, such as off-beat, and enjoy a little challenging.
