I think this DivX film New Rose Hotel has a bum rap. I really enjoyed it much more parody Johnny Mnemonic (my apologies to Gibson, I know he liked). Note to Hollywood, Ice-T does not go well with everything, and the preacher was crazy little exaggerated. But here I think Abel Ferrara really a world in line with what is expected to read the story, either Gibson stories. It is not a future where everything is super speed of light and CGI, is a future where most people live in slums, and the rest is a clean and aerodynamic, with a button for the entire lifestyle. The premise, a couple of companies "headhunters" trying to seduce a brilliant researcher outside a multinational one billion dollars with a geisha-type mole, is the sort of premise that Gibson is famous for. This is an isolated incident that revolve around human emotions but worldwide implications, because the man is so bright that it could change the course of science. The acting is great, of course: Willem Dafoe, Christopher Walken, and a first view of Asia Argento. The story does not hit you in the head to explain events like most movies, but never makes Ferrara, and half the fun is the sudden realization of what has happened, control mate, on their own. If you want action, go to see Johnny Mnemonic, depth if you want to see this movie.
