Genocide in the Vendée

This weekend unbeknown to me the History Channel played a series of programs on the French Revolution. Now this series had played before but I had purposely neglected to watch it because the History Channel has be come a mouthpiece of those "progressive" elements in American society. My wife Suzanne however, did surf through the TV and found the series and watched it. I caught only the last part of the last episode, the one which contained the excesses of the Vendée, the de-Christianization under Hebert, the death of Robespierre and the Rise of the Ogre.

It is funny, but of all these things, the one which was glossed over was the Genocide in the Vendée. I have written on this before. Any country which chooses to call itself a nation born on Liberty, Equality, and Brotherhood, and all the other Masonic values, yet condemns its people by savage torture and murder is founded on a lie.

...The descendants of those Catholics who were massacred during the French Revolution are striving for the mass murders to be recognized as genocide. The article does not mention the word "Catholic" although it acknowledges that the Vendéeans were slaughtered for their religion. There are some scholars who take issue with the use of the word "genocide." I personally cannot think of a more adequate term, especially since General Westermann bragged about the fact that he had "exterminated" everyone in the Vendée.... more
